OWURA Edwards has revealed Colchester United showed interest in signing him throughout pre-season, prior to his permanent return to the club.
The 22-year-old is back at the U’s after joining them for an undisclosed fee from Championship club Bristol City, on transfer deadline day.
Edwards enjoyed a productive loan spell at Colchester in the second half of the 2021-22 season, where he impressed with his attacking flair and skill.

He made 13 appearances for the U’s while on loan at the JobServe Community Stadium, scoring three times before the spell was cut short by injury.
Edwards’ form prompted Colchester to pursue his signing throughout the summer, leading to them finally getting their man last week.
Edwards told Col U TV: “I’m buzzing to be back.
“All pre-season, they showed great interest in me.
“With the respect that the club have shown me, it was an easy decision to come here and put pen to paper.”
Edwards, who will wear the number 11 shirt for Colchester, made four senior appearances for Bristol City.

He joined the Robins from Newport County in August 2018 after catching the eye in an under-18 trial, the previous season.
Edwards made his Bristol City debut in a FA Cup fourth-round win at Millwall in January 2021 and then his league bow at Brentford in May, the same year.
Prior to playing for Colchester on loan, he had loan spells at Exeter City, Grimsby Town and Bath City.
Edwards played on loan at Scottish Premiership side Ross County last season, where he made 36 appearances, scoring five times.
He added: “I spoke to (Ben Garner) and it was a really good conversation.
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to show him what I’m about.

“I know most of the players here and it’ll be good to see them.
“I want to come here and really play my football and hopefully, it’ll be a really good time here for me.”
Edwards is currently sidelined through injury but is hoping to make an impact for Colchester on his return.
