COLCHESTER United have paid tribute to their former chairman Roy Chapman who has died.
Roy became U's chairman in March 1971, just after the club's historic FA Cup win over Leeds United, having earlier been on the Board of Directors at Layer Road.
He took over from Bill Graver, who had been chairman between the summer of 1969 and March, 1971.
He was the club's chairman until the summer of 1973, when he was succeeded by Robert Jackson in the role.
In addition to his close association with Colchester United, he was well renowned for his estate agency business and his support for several charities.
