A COLCHESTER man who downloaded and distributed indecent images of children has been jailed for four years.
Before Ipswich Crown Court today (Friday) was David Pennery 32, of Rayner Road, Colchester.
He admitted making and distributing indecent images of children, breaching a sexual harm prevention order, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and publishing an obscene article.
Sentencing Pennery, Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley said his phone was seized by police during a raid at his home in March this year and a number of indecent images of children were found on it.
It was also discovered he had distributed one indecent image of a child and a video in the most serious level A category and further images in the lower B and C categories.
“These images aren’t pretend, the children in them are actually suffering and being made to do these things,” said the judge.
She said Pennery had also engaged in sexualised chats and sent pictures of himself to someone who said he was a 13-year-old boy.
She said it wasn’t clear if the boy was a real child or someone pretending to be a 13-year-old boy.
