FORMER Colchester United defender Connor Wood has joined their League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers.

Wood, who made 16 appearances on loan at the U's from Leyton Orient last season, has joined the Wirral side on a contract until the end of the season.

The former Bradford City full-back could make his debut for Tranmere when they face Colchester at the JobServe Community Stadium, this afternoon.

Tranmere manager Ian Dawes told the club's website: “We are very pleased to welcome Connor into the group.

"He’s a top professional with lots of experience at this level. “He fits the description of a Tranmere player. He’s hard working, an excellent defender and has good crossing ability.

"He is a good pro with a great character and will fit in well with the squad.”
