POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in a lay-by.
The assault reportedly took place in a lay-by along the A120 between Colchester and Braintree at about 8.30pm on August 3.
The female victim sustained minor injuries and was assisted by members of the public.
A 31-year-old man from South Woodham Ferrers was arrested on suspicion of common assault in connection with the incident.
He has since been released on conditional bail while police inquiries continue.
Officers have now issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the attack to come forward.
“We are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident, particularly the members of the public who assisted to contact us,” said an Essex Police spokesman.
“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.”
Anyone who can help the police investigation is encouraged to call officers on 101 and cite incident 42/129433/23.
