A COLCHESTER hair stylist whose young son battled a potentially fatal disease is offering discounted haircuts to help children with cancer.
Stacey Holmes, 31, will be taking part in the Style Against Cancer campaign, which aims to bring hair salons together in raising money for Children With Cancer UK.
Working at Serenity Rooms, in Mill Road, Stacey will be offering cheap hair appointments, with all the funds going towards the charity.
During the event, on October 24, she will be offering walk-in appointments for £10, which is £14 cheaper than the usual charge.
All money raised for Children With Cancer UK will help to fund research into kinder and less toxic cancer treatments as well as wellbeing programmes which support families.
Stacey's dedication to the cause comes from a place of empathy as, during Christmas 2021, her three-year-old son, Frankie, was sadly diagnosed with Kawasaki disease.
Kawasaki disease is a potentially fatal condition which causes blood vessels to become inflamed and swollen, which can lead to complications with the blood supply to the heart.
Stacey said: "I think due to the situation with my son, I'm able to have more compassion for other people who are going through a similar thing as I have done.
"I always try to help wherever I can as it's free, the only thing it costs is time.
"I think everyone should be doing a bit more to help out."
Fortunately, Frankie has since fully recovered from the cruel disease and is continuing to grow into a strong young boy.
This is Stacey's first charity event, however, she was due to join in with the Help for Homeless haircut campaign in 2020, before it was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid.
Walk-in appointments for Stacey will be available at Serenity Rooms, in Mill Road, on September 24, from 10.30am.
