FINANCIAL accounts released by the trust which runs Colchester Hospital have shown a major revenue surplus in the year to date.
Statistics outlined in a performance report for the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) show greater than expected incomes were recorded for both patient care and other operating income.
Up to July, the trust recorded an income of £339.2million, which is nearly £8million higher than the expected income of £331.6million.
But stats also show the trust has overshot its expenditure on pay and other resources.
Accounts show the planned expenditure on wages was estimated at £206million, though the trust has spent £1million more than that in the year to July.
Expenditure on non-pay, which was predicted at £111million, has been exceeded by about £7million to £118million.
Though the trust has recorded a higher income and a higher expenditure than expected, ESNEFT has still posted a large overall revenue surplus, however.
With a total income of £339.2million, and a total expenditure of £325.7million it means ESNEFT has taken in £13.5million more than expected for the year to July.
