Venues in Colchester have received a national award for their standards and services in customer welfare.

Twelve night-time venues in the city centre received the Best Bar None accreditation at an event hosted by the Colchester Business Improvement District at the Three Wise Monkeys.

The award is a national scheme which helps customers to identify well-run pubs, bars, clubs and other businesses which serve alcohol.

Businesses on the scheme are assessed based on venue management, staff training, customer welfare and safety.
