TWO businesses in Colchester are hoping to be able to sell alcohol and provide late night entertainment to customers.

Scupa LTD and We are the Minories have revealed plans to sell booze after both organisations applied for an alcohol licensing permit from Colchester Council.

Scupa LTD, a business located in Chelmsford which works in the restaurant industry, is looking to obtain a license for the property Scheregate, in Colchester.

It hopes to be able to sell alcohol on and off its premises between Monday and Sunday from 10am to 11pm.

We Are The Minories, meanwhile, has applied for the licence at its art gallery located in 74 High Street, Colchester.

It is hoping to serve alcohol at the popular gallery between 10am and 11pm Sunday to Friday, with an extended 10am until 12am timeframe on Saturdays.

This comes after the art gallery re-opened its doors again in August following it's closure in 2020 due financial pressures and the coronavirus pandemic.

The space holds many different thought-provoking art exhibitions and is a staple of the Colchester art scene.
