AN opening date has been confirmed for Colchester’s newest nursery.

Work began on the construction of a Bright Horizons nursery, in Whitmore Drive, Mile End, earlier this year.

The childcare provider has begun advertising employment opportunities, hinting towards a spring opening, and the company has now confirmed it is expecting to open the new nursery in March.

Oliver Brookes, Bright Horizons’ acquisition and development manager, said he and his colleagues are looking forward to opening the purpose-built facility in the north of the city.

“It's going to have a large garden area for children to explore and expand their knowledge and a dedicated external space for the babies to learn in a safe environment,” he said.

“We can't wait to welcome new families to this nursery that we have worked hard to design so we can support each child's needs.”

Parents with young children will be spoilt for choice, with childcare provider Seymour House opening a nursery on the nearby Chesterwell estate in September.

The Bright Horizons nursery, which will be on the corner of Eden Drive and Whitmore Drive on the Kingswood Heath development, will be next door to a new Sainsbury’s Local store which is due to open before Christmas.
