AN event in Harwich saw residents given free advice as well as free thermals, socks, and food bags to help them keep warm for the winter months.
Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) hosted the ‘Community Winter Action Day’ at the Dovercourt and Harwich Hub in Dovercourt this Wednesday.
Resources such as employment support, training opportunities, financial support, housing advice, and free school uniforms were provided.
CVST’s winter warmer items were given to both adults and children, with the packs including thermals, socks, and food bags.
Lee Knight, resilience team manager at CVST, said: “Our community action days bring together different organisations to provide residents with a range of information to help them through the winter months.
“Essex Fire Service were giving fire safety advice including offering fire alarm checks. There was free school uniform, and Essex Pedal Power promoting free bikes.”
He added: “Other organisations were promoting family support, healthy wellbeing, digital support, and money and energy saving advice."
For those who were unable to attend, further collection points for winter warmer packs will be held around Tendring in the coming weeks.
