A MAN was taken to hospital after being injured in a fall at popular Colchester soft play centre, Go Bananas.

The ambulance service has confirmed it was called to Mason Road, Colchester, this morning, November 23.

A spokesman said paramedics were called to the scene after a man had been hurt in a fall.

The Gazette understands people may have been working on a roof at the property at the time of the incident.

Go Bananas announced on social media earlier today it was closed for the remainder of the day “due to an unforeseen maintenance incident”.

The statement continued: “We are working hard to resolve this and will update you all again soon.”

Meanwhile, the East of England Ambulance service spokesman said: “One ambulance, one rapid response vehicle, one ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Mason Road, Colchester this morning following reports of a man injured in a fall.

“One man was transported to Colchester General Hospital for further assessment and care.”

A witness told the Gazette: “One ambulance and two ambulance cars came to the scene along with the air ambulance, which I believe landed in Castle Park."

Speaking to the Gazette about the incident, Castle ward councillor Richard Kirkby-Taylor said: “It sounds like a serious incident which has happened.

“In my day job I am also a construction health and safety consultant, so I am very interested to find out what actually happened.

“We obviously need to know more on the incident, but hopefully we will in the coming days.

“I of course also send my best wishes to the person injured and hopefully they make a full recovery.”

Fellow ward councillor Mark Goacher was also shocked to hear the incident.

He said: “I hope the person concerned makes a full recovery and I am thinking of them and their friends and family at this time.

“I also hope whatever has happened can be resolved.”

The Gazette has contacted Go Bananas for comment.
