COLCHESTER city centre is continuing to expand with an assortment of different shops and restaurants set to open within the next few months.
It comes as welcome news following several high-profile closures in the last few years, including Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, and most recently, Wilko.
Here is a round-up of some of the new businesses and exciting store expansions which will be launching in Colchester very soon.
BRIM Burgers
The growing national burger chain has seven stores across the UK and is teasing a Colchester franchise which will be opening in the High Street.
The fast-food chain is becoming well-known for its large speciality burgers which come in four, eight, and twelve ounce sizes.
iStore
As a popular reseller of Apple products, Colchester’s iStore has been in the centre’s Lion Walk for the last several years.
However, as of this Saturday, the business will have relocated and expanded into two units within Culver Square which were once home to Paperchase and EE.
A lot of refurbishment work has taken place with the structural wall between the two units being removed in an effort to create a larger and more appealing space.
The new and improved iStore will be able to showcase the full range of Apple products and “better support” its customers.
The Sushi Co.
The Sushi Co. is another popular eatery which is set to open in the High Street.
Situated in the former Optical Revolution site, between Toni & Guy and Nicholas Jewellers, Colchester’s Sushi Co will be the brand’s second location in Essex.
In December last year, plans were approved by Colchester Council for altercations to be carried out to the premise.
The restaurant is known for its tasty ramen, katsu, bao buns, and much more.
It is expected to open at some point in December and will be open 11am until 11pm every day.
Café Malabar
An authentic South Indian restaurant is set to open in North Station Road.
Café Malabar will serve halal food meaning the food meets dietary standards for practicing Muslims.
The business has moved into the former location of Dolphin Fish Bar and the signage suggests it could still serve “traditional fish-and-chips”.
