A COLCHESTER woman saw her design on the car of a championship winning F1 team when the racing series returned to Las Vegas for the first time time 41 years.

Lindsay Palmer was announced as the winner of Oracle Red Bull Racing’s global fan-designed livery competition Make Your Mark: Las Vegas 2023 edition.

Reigning champions Oracle Red Bull Racing provided fans across the globe with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to design the team livery of the RB19, to mark the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix.

A total of 24,000 ballots were cast in voting for the design and it was Lindsay’s design that came out on top.

The bespoke design, which covered the entire bodywork of the RB19, ‘The Neon Bull’ hit the streets of Las Vegas in style after being suspended in mid-air at a show-stopping car reveal event at OMNIA Nightclub, at Caesers Palace.

The design itself featured fluorescent yellow and purple strobe-like lights which lit up the streets of Vegas giving the RB19 a distinct glow.

Titled 'Two of a Kind' after the famous Poker hand, the playing cards showcased special Red Bull edition suits representing the Oracle Red Bull Racing drivers, triple world champion Max Verstappen and Mexican driver Sergio Perez.

To celebrate her win, Lindsay received the ultimate VIP motorsport experience including access to the paddock, an exclusive garage tour during free practice one, and her design brought to life by Red Bull designers.

She also got to see the Red Bull stars on the podium with Verstappen winning the race and Perez coming third.

Lindsay said: “It’s impossible to describe how crazy the past week has been! From being a VIP in Vegas, to seeing my design on the RB19 and on the top of the podium, meeting Christian, Max and Sergio - it’s been a whirlwind of an experience.

“The design reveal was nothing short of amazing. The team brought my design to life flawlessly and seeing the car for the first time with Christian was a once in a lifetime moment.

“It still feels incredibly surreal to say I’ve designed the bodywork for a winning Formula 1 car, and for the inaugural Vegas race, it doesn’t get any better than that.

“A huge thank you to everyone at Red Bull for making it a truly unforgettable experience.”
