AS the old saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved, and a trip to the GP can often relieve any anxieties you may be experiencing.
Thankfully, Colchester and the surrounding area is blessed with a multitude of doctors surgeries at which you can get any health concerns checked out.
But which ones are the best?
Here is a list of the best GPs in the area, according to Google reviews.
Rowhedge & University of Essex Medical Practice
Based in Rectory Road, the Rowhedge & University of Essex Medical Practice is highly regarded.
It has received five stars on Google.
The GP is open Monday to Friday 9am until 8pm.
One patient spoke highly of the surgery.
They said: “I have been a patient of the Rowhedge surgery for 30 plus years and have had nothing but an excellent service from the whole team.
“I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have such wonderful doctors, nurses, receptionists and pharmacists.”
Wivenhoe Medical Centre
Wivenhoe Medical Centre, in Phillip Road, has received four stars on Google.
The practice is open during the week 8am until 6.30pm.
A patient of the practice is pleased with the service they have received from the medical team there.
They said: “Best of all the GP surgeries where I have been registered.
“I am diabetic so I need to visit the doctor's frequently.
“They are very proactive in helping you."
Elmstead Medical Practice
Elmstead Medical Practice can be found in Chapel Lane.
It’s another establishment which has received more than four stars on Google.
One patient said it’s "a great doctor’s surgery, it can’t be faulted at all".
On Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays the practice is open from 8am until 3pm.
Tuesdays and Thursdays you can visit the GP from 2pm until 6.30pm.
Wimple Road Surgery
Named after the Colchester road it is located in, Wimple Road Surgery has received more than three stars on Google.
It’s open all week from 8am until 6.30pm.
One Google reviewer boldly claims it’s the best surgery they have ever been to.
They said: “It’s the best practice I’ve ever been with.
“I have had to use this practice quite a bit unfortunately, but every single time I call up and request anything I’m always met with the most respectful people.
“I can’t thank you enough for everything so far.
“Friendly, well-mannered staff that listen and act.”
