AN inspiring little girl spent weeks saving up her pocket money so she could buy toys for children who wouldn't get an presents this Christmas.
Olivia Pape, seven, of Lawford, has melted hearts with her incredibly thoughtful decision to give presents to children this Christmas.
After a shopping trip conversation with her parents, Olivia realised not all children will receive a gift this Christmas for many different reasons.
From that point onwards, the young girl approached her parents, Kayleigh and Antony Pape, asking if it would be ok to use her hard-earned pocket money to purchase toys for other children.
Olivia used the £400 she saved up from the numerous times she has worked with her dad at his electronic security company, PVS Security, and the parents bulk ordered a range of presents for five to fourteen year olds.
The gifts were a mix of boy, girl and unisex toys, as well as board games.
Touched by Olivia’s actions, she and her parents decided to also set up a Just Giving page where people could donate to further help spread Christmas cheer.
An incredible £719 has been raised so far and all the money has gone for more toys to be donated.
Olivia delivered dozens of gifts to Colchester police station where the force will be distributing them out to many deprived families and children.
Her mother, Kayleigh, is extremely proud of Olivia.
She said: “Olivia is very aware about her situation and knows many of the things we do are a real treat, she knows there are others out there that are less fortunate.
We’re just so proud of Olivia, it has made our hearts burst with pride, we’re lucky to be raising a young girl with such an awareness of others’ feelings.
“When she asked, it pulled at our heartstrings, so we decided to set up a Just Giving page as well, it all escalated from there.”
Olivia’s thoughtful nature dates back to last year when as a festive treat, Olivia and her parents went to go watch a pantomime per family tradition.
When walking to the theatre in Ipswich last year, Olivia noticed many homeless people and after a discussion with her parents, she purchased sandwiches and donuts for them.
