A COLCHESTER tearoom has raised hundreds of pounds for a charitable cause by hosting a Christmas market in the lead-up to the festive season.
The Shoulder of Mutton is a 750-year-old Grade II listed building located in Fordham which is owned and operated by the Neill family.
Towards the end of November the venue was filled with 25 small Colchester business owners who showcased their products.
There were also craftspeople and a blacksmith who gave a demonstration.
Overall, the market raised £280 which will be donated to GUTS UK, a charity dedicated to combating digestive diseases.
Amy Neill, manager and event organiser said: "We had hundreds of visitors from all around Colchester and everyone really enjoyed the mix of stalls including Essex woodworks, handmade goods, and the blacksmith demonstration were so interesting.
"It was a free event so as many people from the local community could attend as possible however the amazing talented stall holders also helped us raise £280 to donate to GUTS UK.
"After overwhelming positive feedback, we will definitely be doing more antiques and local handmade markets next year."
