A LIMITED edition mug commemorating the royal visit of King Charles to Colchester has been put on display in Colchester Town Hall.
In all, 100 of the mugs were made to mark the King’s royal visit, which took place in March this year as part of Colchester’s celebrating of city status.
The mugs are currently on sale for £10, with the proceeds going towards the twinkle star fund, a crowdfunding project started by Sir Bob Russell who is raising money for a statue commemorating Jane and Ann Taylor.
Jane Taylor was the author of the poem Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, which was published in Colchester in 1806.
Though much of the money has all been raised – £80,000 was accumulated to cover the casting of the bronze statue – some funds are still required for other aspects, including the engraving of granite and the installing of the statue itself.
Mugs can be bought by contacting Sir Bob Russell via email at sir.bob.russell@hotmail.com or by sending a cheque, payable to Twinkle Star Fund, to 35 Catchpool Road, Colchester CO1 1XN.
The Twinkle Twinkle statue will likely be installed in April in front of Tesco in Colchester High Street.
