MATTY Etherington has vowed to do everything he can to turn Colchester United’s flagging form around.
The U’s have lost their last five games in League Two and sit a place above the relegation zone, following their 2-1 defeat at Wrexham on Saturday.
Colchester go into their important home clash with 20th-placed Salford City on Friday night desperate for a win and head coach Etherington says he will be striving to halt their losing run.

Etherington said: “The buck stops with me – I completely get it.
“I’ll do everything I can to turn it around - that’s all I can do and that’s all I will do.
“Staff, players – we’re all feeling it.
“It’s a real difficult moment, after being on a decent little run.
“I did not see this coming but here we are.”
Colchester have scored just four goals and conceded 15 in their last five games in all competitions and boss Etherington concedes his side are not making the correct choices in key areas.
“At the moment, we’re not making the right decisions in both areas,” said Etherington.
“It’s disappointing, because we have got players who can make those key decisions.
“I’m talking about those key moments, those maybe naïve moments where we’re just making the wrong choices at the minute.

“You can try and coach it and I think it comes with experience as well, being in that situation in this environment time and time again.”
Colchester have scored six own goals this season following Zach Mitchell putting through his own net at Wrexham but Etherington insists he will not be singling out the Charlton Athletic loanee.
He added: “For the initial part of that second goal, I think Manny (Egbo) can do better on the halfway line and stop it at source.

“There are many facets to the goal where we can do better and that seems to be the way it is at the minute.
“There’s two balls dropping down in the six-yard box from our set play and we’re not getting on the end of it and it’s hitting the back of the net – it just doesn’t seem to be going for us, at the minute.”
