COLCHESTER United Women are on the lookout for a new head coach.

Current boss Luke Worley will leave his position this Christmas, with the team now on the hunt for a successor, going into the second half of the Essex County Women’s Football League division two season.

Assistant coach Millie Morgan and goalkeeper coach Carl Oliver will take interim charge of the Colchester women's team until a new head coach is appointed.

Worley took charge of the newly-formed team in the summer and has impressed with his hard work during the first half of the current campaign, along with his dedication in supporting the launch of the U’s women’s team, this season.

In a statement, the Colchester United Women’s Team Committee said: “The committee would like to put on record our thanks to Luke for his extensive support in establishing strong foundations for the Women's Team.

“The contributions made will always be remembered. We wish him all the very best in the next chapter of his football journey.”

Colchester's women's team have enjoyed an excellent first half of the season, in their inaugural campaign.

They are second in the table with games in hand following an unbeaten start and have also progressed to the Essex County Women’s Football League Cup second round.

The women have been progressing well as a team, overcoming the challenges that have been put before them so far this season.
