DRIVERS are once again being hit with confusion after a set of traffic lights at a busy junction are not working... for the second day in a row.

The Gazette understands the traffic lights are out at the junction of Ipswich Road and Severalls Lane, Colchester.

The lights were also not working yesterday morning, Friday, December 22.

Essex Highways confirmed an engineer resolved the issue yesterday and that the signals were back on and working.

However, the issue has once again occurred today, Saturday, December 23.

The Gazette has been told the issues with the traffic lights have been in place for a few hours.

One commuter said: "It is worrying this is the second time in two days these lights have stopped working.

"It is a busy junction and one which can get very confusing if the lights are not on.

"More vehicles are driving through there today too as everyone is going to Tesco for their Christmas food shop.

"It is an accident waiting to happen and I am really worried there will be a crash."

UPDATE - The lights are now working as normal.
