A PROFESSIONAL dancer who has boogied onstage for the likes of Katy Perry and Pixie Lott is now looking to impart her expertise and passion on Colchester.
Amie Whitaker, the founder and principal of The Dance Exclusive, is launched her dance company in Stanway on January 10 at The Lakeland.
The business offers “high energy, confidence boosting, and top quality” commercial and street dance lessons for children aged three and upwards and adults.
Amie started the dance school back in 2021 in Kelvedon and has expanded to White Notley, Braintree and Chelmsford since then.
Having studied musical theatre at Clacton’s Tiffany Theatre College, in Oxford Road, the dedicated dance teacher has appeared alongside the likes of famous artists such as Katy Perry, Little Mix, Pixie Lott, and Skip Marley.
The dancer has also appeared on television shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, Alan Carr’s Grease Night, and Dancing on Ice. You can also normally also see her performing in pantomimes across the UK each year.
Speaking about opening her academy in Colchester Amie said: "I’m so excited to be bringing The Dance Exclusive to Stanway to spread the most popular dance style taught by our wonderful teachers.”
When the Colchester branch opens in January, there will be three available classes at set times on Wednesdays.
From 5pm to 5.45pm, a dino dance class for ages three to seven will be held, and a destiny dance class for ages eight to 16 at 5.45pm to 6.45pm.
There is also an hour and fifteen-minute adult commercial class for anyone over the age of sixteen from 7pm.
Amie added: “It gives children and adults the opportunity to let loose and start to feel like they are part of their own music video.
“If you or your child loves TikToks, concerts or tv talent shows then this is the place to be.
“Commercial dance essentially means ‘what’s selling’ which means they use the latest trends, knowledge, and dance styles to make sure they are always current and up to date."
Trials are available and you can find out more information on class costs by emailing essexdancexclusive@gmail.com.
