A GROUP which helps to reduce food waste and support vulnerable families in Tiptree has been given a grant following a referral from a royal warrant holding business.
Wilkin and Sons Ltd was invited, as part of the Royal Warrant Holders Association Charity Fund to apply for a £1,000 grant for a food bank-related charity that they are actively supporting.
The Tiptree-based business chose to recommend the Tiptree Community Hub for the grant.
The RWHA charity fund offered a grant to food bank-related charities, in support of HM The King’s Coronation Food Project to tackle food waste, which was launched in celebration of his 75th birthday.
Liz Baker, marketing manager at Wilkin and Sons said: “We are thrilled that this will help with the great work that Tiptree Community Hub does for the community and we are very grateful for the generosity of the RWHA Charity Fund.”
Terri Daniels, one of the leaders at the Tiptree Community Hub has expressed her gratitude for the Wilkin and Sons referral.
She said: “We are going to use this money to support our new hub coordinator to deliver groups and activities linked to mental health.
“The community hub has made huge progress and as we approach our first official birthday on January 14, we have saved more than 15 tonnes of surplus food from waste. A great achievement.
“Our three priorities for this year are to continue to provide surplus food to the community and prevent food waste, support vulnerable families during the cost of living crisis and support mental health for adults and children through groups and activities.”
