TWO men have been charged with attempted murder after a teenage boy was stabbed in Colchester city centre.
Essex Police arrested two men, aged 19 and 21, in the Greenstead area of the city on the evening of January 11 after a 16-year-old boy was left fighting for his life earlier in the week.
Police were called to the junction of Queen Street and Priory Street at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, January, 9 following reports of a boy being seriously assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds.
Thankfully, his condition is no longer life-threatening.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Kaya Adu, 19, of Hereward Green, Loughton, and Rushi Jadeja, 21, of Pickford Walk, Colchester, have been charged with attempted murder.
“Adu also faces a charge of possession of a bladed article in a public place
“Both are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court this morning.”
A 20-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released and will face no further action at this time.
Officers have maintained a continued presence in The Dell area, off Priory Street, as investigations continue.
