COLCHESTER United defender Tom Dallison has been named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Week.

Dallison filled in at left-back for the U's in their 1-1 draw with Bradford City, following Ellis Iandolo's absence due to injury.

The former Crawley Town defender, who has made 20 appearances for the U's so far this season, provided the assist for Tom Hopper's second-half equaliser, after Andy Cook's opener before half-time.

And Dallison's performance has been recognised after he was named in the divisional team of the week, powered by whoscored.com

Colchester boss Danny Cowley said: "It wasn't ideal preparation because we lost Ellis towards the end of the week.

"We had to tilt the team the other way and this means that because Tom Dallison is really a centre-half, as a left-back he has to invert.

"Last week (at Swindon) Ellis could overlap and then we could play Noah Chilvers in that left ten.

"This week, because Tom is a centre-half he has to play as an inverted full-back, a supporting full-back so Jayden Fevrier has to go and play on the touchline as the 11, so this needed some tweaking which is never easy, especially when you're coming together as a group.

"I said to Tom yesterday (on Friday), you played for Brighton as a young player, just think Dan Burn, this is what you're going to be and I thought he did great.

"I thought he did really well and I was so proud of his performance."

Colchester will further assess Iandolo's injury, after he missed the Bradford draw last weekend.

The former Swindon Town defender returned to the squad last month, after missing four months of the season following an ankle injury.
