BOSSES have revealed what will be taking over the premises of a popular tea room after it announced it was closing due to increasing costs.
The Forget Me Not Tearooms based at Tom’s Farm Shop, Tiptree, has closed its doors following struggles with escalating costs.
The much-loved tea room revealed the news on social media, with the business saying the decision was “not easy” but added the rising costs made it “impossible” to maintain its high standards.
It also added it would be “unfair” on its customers to increase prices.
The business also said it was “proud” of its achievements and thanked its staff, customers and families for their support.
Residents were devastated to hear of the closure.
Stephanie Webster said: "I've been visiting for years and really enjoyed it there. Food was always lovely and it's nice inside.
"Such a shame wishing you all the best for the future."
Joanna Vanderhoof added: "So sad about this. Fabulous tearoom, lovely staff, delicious food...really sad to see you go and wishing you all the best for the future."
Pamela Clements said: "Thank you for the lovely breakfasts we have had and all the best to you and all the staff."
Following the news, Tom's Farm Shop, which housed the business, thanked the staff and wished them luck.
A spokesman said: "We would like to say a big thank you to Kate and all of the staff at Forget Me Not Tearooms for their continued success and always making the tearoom such a friendly hub for the customers.
"We want to personally wish you all good luck for the future."
Tom's Farm Shop has also revealed what will be replacing the tea room following its sad closure.
A spokesman said: "Moving forward, we would like to announce that the tearoom is being taken over by Claire’s Cabin and Smoke House, which will be opening on February 1.
"We would like to take this opportunity to wish you every success.
"Tom’s Farm Shop is open as usual."
