TROY Deeney has been sacked by Forest Green Rovers after just six games in charge.
The 35-year-old has been dismissed with Rovers seven points from safety at the bottom of League Two.
Deeney was critical of his players last weekend, following their defeat against Harrogate Town.
He apologised this week for the comments, saying he allowed his emotions to get the better of him.
Deeney was today handed a four-match touchline ban and fined £1,500 for verbally abusing an official.
He was sent to the stands by referee Scott Simpson in the 85th minute of his side's Sky Bet League Two match against Swindon on December 29, and he continued to remonstrate with Simpson after his dismissal.

He was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association on January 4 and an independent commission has now sanctioned him.
Rovers lost the match 2-1.
The U's host Forest Green Rovers at the JobServe Community Stadium on February 3, in their next home game.
Forest Green currently lie bottom of the League Two table and are seven points adrift of safety.
