Colchester artists to host art-mini-golf tournament at Minories

Artists Tom Armstrong and Stuart Bowditch will be hosting a mini golf tournament to celebrate the end of their residencies at The Minories.  

Tom is currently creating a 9-hole mini golf course inspired by artwork from the Victor Batte-Lay Art Collection. 

The course will be open to keen golfers from February 11 until February 25, during The Minories' usual opening hours of 10am until 4pm between Thursdays and Sundays.

Players are invited to bring their own team of mini-golfers to take part in the tournament. 

The night before the course opens, there will be a launch party which the public can attend free of charge.

The night will begin at 6pm with the first part of the golf tournament and music and drinks in the Girling Room. 

Then, from 7pm until 7.30pm, there will be a performance by Stuart in the ballroom.

The show will be a culmination of a month of gathering and editing sounds and working with visitors to make a soundscape.

This is in response to the engraving of John Constable’s painting of Stanway Mill, Colchester by David Lucas. 

The performance will then be swiftly followed by the second part of the golf tournament at 8pm before wrapping up at 9pm. 

The two artist's exhibitions, 'Mark Edwards: Countless Edens' and 'Work in Progress' will also be open in the evening.
