POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with serious injuries following an attack in Colchester.

Essex Police has released images of two possible witnesses in the hopes of getting in touch with them.

Officers believe they may have witnessed the incident, which happened in Queen Street and St Botolph Circus at about 3.20am on Thursday, September 14.

A man in his twenties had sustained a concussion and injuries to his face.

A 37-year-old man from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of GBH without intent and common assault in connection with the incident.

He was released under investigation.
