A Colchester homeless charity is encouraging its supporters to collectively walk one million steps throughout March to raise vital funds.

CENS is calling for as many people as possible to participate in the unique 'March 4 CENS' fundraiser.

Faced with the cost-of-living crisis and a surge in homelessness, CENS has been operating at full capacity, providing essential services to those in need.

The event, sponsored by Lanswood Developments, is set to run through the entire month, and will require participants to count their steps for 31 days.

Supporters are not expected to complete the million steps individually.

They can form teams, ensuring every step taken contributes to the collective goal of one million steps.

Support can be given via their dedicated JustGiving page or to sign-up to take part in March 4 CENS head to the CENS 4 Homeless website.

Every penny raised in the event will go directly to the charity, with the shelter functioning at full capacity.

It currently provides three meals a day, support, counselling, and en-suite accommodation for its 15 residents.

CENS also offers 'move-on' accommodation for four residents prepared for independent living.
