Runners at the first ever Parkrun on Mersea Island
MISERABLE weather has seen Mersea Island’s Parkrun event rained off for two weeks.
Organisers of the free weekly 5k run said they’ve been forced to cancel the events this Saturday and next Saturday.
A statement on social media said: “We are sorry to have to share that Essex Country Parks have asked us to cancel our Parkruns on February 17 and 24. This is to allow the park to recover from the recent wet weather.”
Mersea Parkrun will be celebrating its 300th event on March 16.
Parkrun events are also held at High Woods Country Park and Castle Park.
