COLCHESTER United have a host of young players currently out on loan.

The Gazette takes a look at how the U's players have fared, up and down the country.

CHAY COOPER (HARTLEPOOL UNITED)

Attacking midfielder Cooper enjoyed a winning debut for his new club Hartlepool United, after joining them at the end of last week.

The former Spurs youngster came off the bench in the 66th minute, replacing former U’s winger Brennan Dickenson, and helped them come from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Boreham Wood at the Suit Direct Stadium, in their latest National League match.

Cooper found himself through on goal not long after coming and saw his effort curl the wrong side of the post against a Boreham Wood side that featured former U's players Cameron Coxe and Kwesi Appiah.

Hartlepool’s win lifted them up to tenth spot in the National League, six points off the play-off places.

Cooper will be hoping to start tonight for Hartlepool when they host Altrincham, at the Suit Direct Stadium.

GENE KENNEDY (WELLING UNITED)

Colchester United academy product Kennedy made his debut for Welling United in their 2-2 draw with Tonbridge Angels, at the weekend.

The 20-year-old midfielder has linked up with the National League South side initially for a month and will play under former Braintree Town boss Rod Stringer at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium, along with ex-Colchester United favourite Kevin Watson, who is assistant manager at Welling.

Kennedy, who has also spent time on loan at Braintree Town, played the full 90 minutes for Welling, who came from 2-0 down to claim a point to boost their chances of staying in National League South.

FRANKIE TERRY (AVELEY)

Terry helped Aveley to a 2-0 win and a clean sheet against George Elokobi’s Maidstone United side, on Monday night.

Goals from Razz Coleman De-Graft and Charlee Hughes gave the Millers victory in the National League South clash, at Parkside.

Aveley are back in action this weekend when they travel to Devon to take on Torquay United.

AL-AMIN KAZEEM (GALWAY UNITED)

Left-back Kazeem was on the bench for Galway United’s league opener against St Pat’s, last Friday night.

Kazeem came on as a 67th-minute substitute, as his new club were beaten 1-0 in their SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division opener, at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Kazeem, who joined Galway on loan on February 8, will be hoping to make the starting line-up when they travel to play Dundalk, on Friday night.

RONNY NELSON (TORQUAY UNITED)

Centre-back Nelson was an unused substitute for Torquay United in their 1-0 defeat at ten-man Braintree Town, in National League South.

The former Leicester City centre-back joined the Gulls on a month’s loan earlier this month.

Nelson made his full debut for Colchester earlier this season when he featured in their home defeat to Spurs under-21s in their Bristol Street Motors Trophy group game, last September.

HARRY BEADLE (BISHOP'S STORTFORD)

Young U’s defender Beadle will be hoping to feature for Bishop’s Stortford in their Isuzu FA Trophy fifth-round tie against Coalville Town tonight, to be played at Aveley FC.

Gazette:

Beadle returned to the Blues' starting line-up at the weekend and played the full 90 minutes in their 3-0 National League North defeat at Boston United, managed by former Colchester United assistant manager Ian Culverhouse.

Beadle has recently been joined at Stortford by former Colchester United defender Lordon Akolbire.
