Colchester boss Danny Cowley on Sutton game:

“We have an internal pressure and that pressure is to perform consistently well.

“We are working towards that and I think good teams do perform consistently well.

“We’ve played well in periods of games and the aim now is to try to sustain that period and also, get a really good value when we are playing well by being ruthless."

Key battle

Colchester United loanee Alistair Smith returns to his former club Sutton for the first time since leaving them to join Lincoln City, last summer.

He is set to come up against former U's midfielder Craig Eastmond, who made more than 50 league and cup appearances in two spells for the club.

Last meeting

A last-gasp equaliser by former U's defender Omar Sowunmi denied Colchester victory when the two sides met at the JobServe Community Stadium, last November.

Arthur Read had given the U's an 80th-minute lead with a fine solo goal and they looked like they were heading for victory, until Sowunmi struck.

Referee

The man in the middle today is Ben Speedie.

Mr Speedie has presided over 25 games so far this season, showing 68 yellow cards and three reds.

Opposition view

Sutton boss Steve Morison told the club's website: "Colchester are a good team and they move the ball around well.

"They've got their style that they're trying to implement as well, while trying to keep themselves above water, which is what they've been doing so far.

Gazette:

"We know what they're going to be about; we've done our homework.

"It's going to be a tough game but one where we want to try to bring them a bit closer to us."
