A MAN was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a busy road in village near Colchester.
Three ambulance service vehicles were called to Nayland Road at about 8.45pm on Tuesday after reports of a crash on the road in Great Horkesley.
A man was taken to Colchester Hospital after he was cut out of a vehicle by firefighters. Essex Police has described his injuries as “serious”.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward to assist the police investigation.
A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for any information or dashcam footage following a serious collision near Colchester.
“We were called to reports of a single vehicle collision in Nayland Road, Great Horkesley, at about 8.45pm on Tuesday, February 27.
“At the scene we worked with emergency service colleagues, and a man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“The road was closed for several hours, and we appreciate the patience of those in the area so we could carry out this work. The road is now reopened.”
He added: “If you witnessed this incident or have any dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision, please get in touch with us quoting incident number 1102 of Tuesday, February 27.”
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Nayland Road, Great Horkesley, at 8.47pm last night.
“On arrival, crews reported it was a single vehicle collision and one person was trapped. Crews worked to rescue the person by 9.15pm.”
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called just after 8.40pm on Tuesday to attend a road traffic collision on the A134 in Great Horkesley.
“Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. A male patient was transported to Colchester Hospital for further treatment.”
