A TEENAGER is “fighting for his life” in hospital following a crash in a village near Colchester in what has been described as "every parent's nightmare".
Jackson Brown, 18, was involved in a serious smash in Nayland Road, Great Horkesley, at about 8.45pm last Tuesday.
Police officers, three ambulance service vehicles and firefighters were all called to the scene before paramedics transported Jackson to Colchester Hospital.
Speaking at the time Essex Police officers, who shut the road for several hours while firefighters worked to cut Jackson free, described his injuries as “serious”.
Since the incident a fundraiser has been launched by Steph Wheeler, a friend of Jackson's parents Jo and John Brown, who are from the village.
The couple’s son is currently “fighting for his life in Addenbrooke's Hospital”, the fundraising page says.
It reads: “Jo and John are unable to work as they are staying by their son's bedside and the last thing they need to be worrying about is how they are going to pay their bills.
“They also have another son, Jules, who is 12-years-old. This has had such a huge impact on their family and I want to take away the stress of money while they are going through this horrific time.
“If there is anything at all you can spare it would mean so much.
“Please say a prayer for Jackson, he's such a lovely boy and they don't deserve this. It's every parent's worst nightmare.”
The GoFundMe campaign, which can be found at shorturl.at/fqGNO, has already seen more than £1,500 raised so far.
Essex Police has since launched an investigation into the incident.
A spokesman said: “We are appealing for any information or dashcam footage following a serious collision near Colchester.
“If you witnessed this incident or have any dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision, please get in touch with us quoting incident number 1102 of Tuesday, February 27.”
