AN adorable dog who is believed to have been used for breeding before being dumped is now desperately in need of life-changing surgery.

The team at Colchester K9 Rescue, a small foster-based independently run dog rescue facility, took stray exotic bully Bubbles under their wings after being found by a dog warden.

But the team became worried about Bubbles after noticing she often struggles to breathe and keep down food and water because of a chronic condition which obstructs her airway.

Hundreds of pounds have been donated to help fund urgent surgery to correct her condition after Colchester K9 Rescue launched an online appeal.

But the kind-hearted volunteers at the rescue centre are still short of the £850 they have been quoted for the surgery, which is booked for later this month.

Tanya Malone, from the dog rescue centre, says she believes Bubbles, who is about two to three years old, was used for breeding and then abandoned.

“Bubbles is a young dog and still has many years ahead of her,” she said.

“She came into us with horrific kennel cough and she struggles to keep food and water down due to her complications with her airways.

“After we took her to the vets, she was booked in for the surgery as a matter of urgency however we need to try and raise the funds to support her medical needs.”

Colchester K9 Rescue is a dog rescue service which is ran by a small team of volunteers who are dedicated to supporting dogs in need.

Tanya says many of the dogs the team look after arrive at the centre in a neglected or abused state and need medical treatment.

She added: “Bubbles is sadly one of those cases. She has blunt teeth, we suspect from chewing bars being caged or kennelled, she has scars on her eyes from previous untreated ulcers.

“Bubbles has never had anyone put her wellbeing first; now it’s time we give Bubbles the care and attention she needs, give her a life all dogs should have.”

The UK Bully Kennel Club says the exotic bully is a “very recent breed” of American bully.
