AN unplanned power cut is causing issues in Colchester with the issue possibly not being fixed until later this evening.
UK Power Networks is reporting the issue in part of the city centre and surrounding roads.
The company says a fault has occurred on a piece of its electrical equipment which controls the power to the affected homes.
Engineers are on their way to fix the issue.
The incident is reportedly affecting properties in Lexden Road, Maldon Road, Butt Road and more.
A statement says: "We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.
"As this was an unexpected power cut, we didn't know it was going to happen so we were unable to give you advanced notice.
"We estimate your power will be back on by 9pm to 10pm this evening, March 11.
"We may be able to get some customers on sooner.
"The timeframe may change and be extended depending on our investigations and the work involved to resolve the issue."
