A POPULAR pub is celebrating receiving full marks after its first food hygiene inspection after a huge refurb.
The Dog and Pheasant re-opened on December 9 last year with a completely new look.
Inspectors from Colchester Council awarded it five-out-of-five after an inspection later in December, Food Standards Agency records published this week show.
A spokesman for pub in in Nayland Road, Mile End, Colchester, said: “We re-opened late last year following a six-figure refurbishment, with a modern new look creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our local community to come together.
“We’re delighted to receive this five-star rating as we work really hard to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.”
