A COLCHESTER dog show and family fun day will take place next month to raise money for a local dog rescue.
The 'Colchester K9 rescue' event will take place on April 20 at the Peldon and Wigbrough Community Hall from 2pm until 6pm.
All dog breeds are welcomed - including ‘exempt breeds’.
Rosettes, prizes, and certificates are up for grabs for best rescue boy and rescue girl, best young handler, best large, medium, and small breed as well as best in show.
Entries are £2 per dog and there is also the opportunity for last minute registration on the day.
For guests, there will also be children’s stalls, light refreshments, cake, face painting, and an ice cream van.
The dog show celebrates the one year anniversary of K9 Rescue which opened in March, 2023 as a non-profit organisation.
Tanya Malone, who runs the rescue and has been involved with dog rescues for over 15 years, previously told the Gazette the XL bully ban and cost-of-living crisis had led to an increase of dogs being dumped across Colchester.
All dogs are required to be kept on a lead on the grounds and to register for the event contact Colchester K9 rescue on Facebook or on their website.
