A large number of emergency services have been seen at an address in Colchester.
Three police cars and an ambulance are currently at an address in Bourne Court.
A cordon has been set up and police tape stopping people accessing the area.
A spokesman from Essex Police: "We were called to Bourne Court, Colchester, shortly after 7.30am this morning, Friday April 12, to concerns for the welfare of a man outside a property.
"Officers arrived and found a man had, sadly, died.
"At this stage, the man’s death is being treated as unexpected and under investigation.
"As part of that investigation, there will be a policing presence in the area throughout the day.
"At this stage we are appealing for anyone who witnessed an incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area within the last 24 hours to come forward and speak to us.
"Equally, we’re also asking Bourne Court residents to check doorbell footage for the same period.
