DOG and train lovers came together as part of a special event at the East Anglian Railway Museum.

On Sunday, the venue welcomed visitors for its Doggy Steam Day.

Camera Club member Jayne Kirkby said she had “great fun” with her dog Jess as she snapped some shots of others enjoying the day.

The museum saw visitors and their puppy pals come along for unlimited rides on one of the popular steam trains.

At the event, there was also a selection of trade stalls selling accessories and delicious treats for dogs.

Meanwhile, for the humans, the Platform 2 Cafe was open, selling hot and cold food and drinks alongside the venue’s very own miniature pub, selling a range of beer, cider, wine and soft drinks.

There were also opportunities to meet the greyhounds from Clark’s Farm Greyhound Rescue Centre and to see how guide dogs are trained.

Clarks Farm is a small independent charity in Little Totham which takes in retired racing greyhounds to find permanent loving homes for them.

Working alongside the Friends of Crayford Retired Greyhounds, the charity takes in and rehomes hundreds of hounds each year.

It is one of many events the museum holds each year, with more exciting ones in the pipeline.

There is the return of the museum’s Diesel and Steam Days in May as well as its popular Transport Extravaganza returning for 2024 over the spring bank holiday.

The event will see unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of the museum's vintage steam locomotives and free bus rides to Bures and back.

Further events throughout the rest of the year include celebrations for the 175th anniversary of the Marks Tey to Sudbury line and Chappel and Wakes Colne Station in June as well as the Chappel Beer Festival in September.
