A duo from Colchester have received the highest accolade in Scout training from Chief Scout Bear Grylls.
Samuel Inman and Alex Richardson were honoured by Grylls at Windsor Castle for achieving the King’s Scout Award for their exceptional adventure skills and service to the community.
The Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire Andrew Try, along with Ambassador Scouts Dwayne Fields, Ellie Simmonds, and Megan Hines, also attended the grand ceremony.
The coveted award is granted to Scouts aged between 16 and 25 who accomplish several demanding challenges.
This includes a wild country expedition, a five-day residential project in an unfamiliar environment, service to their community, and the development of emerging talents.
Reflecting the impact of the awardees in their communities, the Scouts are recognised for the significant work completed through their volunteering projects.
Chief Scout, Bear Grylls said: "I am so proud to celebrate the achievements of the King’s Scouts here today at Windsor.
"Gaining this award is the pinnacle of their Scouting journey.
"Alex and Samuel have demonstrated courage and kindness, alongside a true Never Give Up spirit, and shown Scouting values to the highest of standards.
"They’ve contributed hugely to their communities and developed many skills along the way.
"These Scouts are an inspiration to us all due to their commitment, enthusiasm and hard work - I am full of pride for every single one of them."
The annual Windsor Castle event, dating back to 1934, coincides with the closest Sunday to St George's Day, who is the Patron Saint of Scouting.
Samuel spoke about his journey and said: "I have been in Scouts since I was a Beaver and the award has really opened my eyes to what I am capable of.
"I have represented Scouts internationally and have visited South Korea, Portugal and the USA.
"It’s been a great experience that has encouraged me to finally learn to play the guitar, something I have wanted to do for years.
"I have used my own personal experiences to lead a disability awareness programme with my local Cubs.
"I’m really proud of the challenges I have overcome to get here today."
