Essex Police have closed the A12 following reports of a serious collision.
The announcement was made by National Highways at 11.18pm on Wednesday, with some motorists saying on social media they have not moved on the road for close to an hour.
The #A12 in #Essex is closed southbound between J22 and J21 near #Witham due to a collision. @EssexPoliceUK are in attendance.

The incident is unfolding on the southbound carriageway between junction 22 and junction 21 near Witham.
Essex Highways has also confirmed the incident on its live traffic map.
The Gazette has contacted Essex Police requesting further details about the incident.
