JAYDEN Fevrier says he has achieved the individual goals he has set himself this season after shining for Colchester United.

The skilful winger was one of the U’s top players in the 2023-24 campaign, with his exciting performances lighting up what was otherwise a largely disappointing season for the club.

Fevrier featured in all but two of Colchester’s matches in League Two and started 40 of them, in what was his first full season of competitive league football.

The 21-year-old has been a consistent performer for the U’s and says he is pleased with how things have gone for him.

Fevrier said: “For me, I’ve achieved the goals that I set out to achieve, this season.

“I’m glad that I’ve cemented my name in the team and impacted the team week in, week out and game in, game out.

“I’ve played 44 out of the 46 games so for me, I’m used to getting injured and stuff so it’s good for me to have that durability.

“My aim is to affect the game and that’s what I do every time I step out on the pitch.”

Fevrier’s performances this season were acknowledged after Colchester’s final game of the season against Crewe Alexandra, last Saturday.

The former West Ham United youngsters scooped the club’s Young Player of the Year award, along with the Hospital Radio Colchester Player of the Year accolade.

“I’m happy to get the awards I did,” said Fevrier, who last year signed a contract extension with the U’s keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2025.

“It’s always nice when people are watching and you get recognition for the season, so I really appreciate the acknowledgement of the people who gave me the award.

“I’m looking forward to a break over the off season now and then, to coming back next season and vying for promotion.”

Fevrier helped Colchester secure their League Two status last weekend in their 1-1 draw with Crewe.

The U’s claimed a point at the JobServe Community Stadium, to ensure they stayed in the Football League.

Fevrier added: “It’s important when your backs are against the wall to stick together.

“We have a gelled together team and we stuck together, fought for each other and ultimately, until the end.

“We knew that it was in our hands.

“We didn’t want to rely on any other teams and we got what we needed to stay up.

“It’s not ideal the position we were in but I’m proud of the team for fighting and ultimately, getting the result that we needed.

“We’ve had a lot of good performances, this season.

“The messages were clear before the game; to focus on the performance and the result will come and thankfully, it did.”
