A controlled explosion has taken place in a village 30 minutes from Colchester after an unexploded Second World War bomb was found.
Police were called to a field off Dairy Road in Semer, near Hadleigh in Suffolk, at about 3.35pm on Tuesday to reports that a metal cylinder had been discovered while work was being carried out.
Officers put a 600-metre cordon in place as a precaution, but due to the remote location, police were not required to evacuate any members of the public.
The device was believed to be that of an unexploded Second World War bomb.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police said the device was disposed of by the explosive ordnance disposal team at about 10.25am on Wednesday.
