The 26-year-old, who made nearly 150 appearances for the U’s between 2016 and 2021, played four times for Pools.
Senior was one of a number of players to leave Colchester in May 2021, following the expiry of his contract at the JobServe Community Stadium.
The former Brentford youngster made 145 appearances for the U’s and scored 14 goals, during his five-year stint with Colchester.
Senior joined Colchester in June 2016 but experienced a nightmare first season with the U’s after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season.
But he went on to become a first-team regular for the U's in League Two under John McGreal and then his successor, Steve Ball.
After leaving Colchester, he joined Newport County AFC in the summer of 2021.
But he failed to make an appearance for the Exiles after rupturing knee ligaments in pre-season.

It resulted in him undergoing surgery on his right leg and he left Newport in May, 2022 without playing a first-team game for the club.
Senior linked up with Johnnie Jackson’s AFC Wimbledon in September 2022 and made 13 appearances for the Dons, scoring once.
He then joined Barnet in February 2023 and also had a loan spell at Yeovil Town, last season.
