ROBBIE Cowling hopes his decision to freeze season-ticket prices will encourage more fans to commit to following Colchester United.

The U’s have announced that the price of a season ticket at the JobServe Community Stadium will remain the same for the 2024-25 season, with supporters who renew benefitting from a discounted price.

Colchester are planning for next season as a League Two club after they secured their Football League status last weekend with a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra, with Danny and Nicky Cowley leading them to safety.

Attendances at the U’s have been on the up since the Cowleys' appointment in January, with the average support increasing by more than 1,100 per game.

The Cowleys are striving to turn the U’s into a force at the right end of the table next season and chairman and owner Mr Cowling revealed a conversation with the club’s management duo led to him freezing season-ticket prices.

Mr Cowling told the U’s website: "With regards to ticket prices and what has determined the prices for the 2024/25 season, the club are not immune to rising costs and I have felt for some time that we will need to increase ticket prices in line with inflation just to stand still.

Gazette:

"It had therefore been my intention until just recently to apply inflationary increases across the board for both matchday and season ticket prices.

"However, Danny and Nicky explained to me that they have been blown away by the tremendous support they have received since joining the club.

"They are adamant that they are forging a real connection with the fans and have asked me to reconsider prices, especially regarding the costs of the season tickets.

"Although matchday ticket prices will need to increase with inflation, I have decided that the costs of the season tickets will not only remain the same as last season but anyone renewing during the first two weeks of the Early Bird period, which is when the season ticket prices are discounted, will also receive a further 5% discount.

"I hope this offer is well accepted and encourages even more fans to commit to a season ticket."

Colchester United season-tickets for next season will be available to buy from Monday, May 20.

Supporters will be able to get discounted tickets in the Early Bird phase until June 30, while existing season-ticket holders who renew by June 3 will receive an additional discount.
