GLOBAL company HSBC UK has joined forces with Essex County Council to make the conversation around money more relaxing for students.

HSBC has a Smart Money Financial Education Programme, which covers financial literacy such as money management and borrowing.

Essex’s lead maths educators and HSBC UK’s financial education team are at the forefront of education to give advice to 14 to 18-year-olds across the country.

Essex County Council director of education Clare Kershaw said: “The collaboration between Essex County Council and HSBC UK is a great example of our shared commitment to equipping young people with essential financial skills that are crucial to future success.”

There are six modules which will be taught by both parties as part of a hybrid teaching model, online and in a classroom.

The modules have been adapted to align with the school curriculum and to real-life scenarios which they may face.

Annette Whalley, senior financial education consultant at HSBC UK said: “Financial skills are life skills, and so we’re incredibly excited to be working with Essex County Council to help young people build financial capabilities.”
