A NEW ‘state of the art’ restaurant has opened in Kelvedon.
Maria’s Indian Dining, in Coggeshall Road, opened on May 1 and is run by owner Abdul Muhith.
The eatery is based at the former George and Dragon restaurant which opened in 2007 but closed last year.
Maria’s Indian Dining focuses on redefining Indian cuisine by infusing classic flavours with a contemporary twist.
Witham MP Dame Priti Patel had the honour of cutting the ribbon for the new family-run business.
Dame Patel said: “It was wonderful to open Maria’s Indian Dining at the former George and the Dragon pub.
“I am extremely pleased that this local landmark will get a new lease of life and residents will be able to enjoy some more excellent cuisine on their doorstep.
“I want to thank Abdul for inviting me to open his new venture and I wish him, his family and team every success for the future.
“I would encourage everyone to pop down and try this great dining experience.”
Signature dishes at Maria’s Indian Dining include a medium spiced chicken, lamb and prawn combination with the chef’s ‘special sauce'.
There is a a golda king prawn dish, chicken tikka modhu which has tender pieces of boneless chicken cooked with honey, and classic Indian dishes.
There are also some English dishes on the menu such as fish and chips.
