A MUSICAL theatre group from Colchester will be celebrating a huge milestone birthday with a special featuring a company of 30 local musical theatre performers.
Platform Musicals is marking 30 years in show business by hosting a ‘Music in May’ concert at the Headgate Theatre.
The group stage fully and semi-staged musical productions – which though popular are less likely to be performed by other groups.
The special show will feature highlights from a range of past productions including Sweeney Todd, Call Me Madam, Promises, Promises and Trial By Jury.
Songs spanning a hundred years from Burt Bacharach, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Ivor Novello will be performed among others.
Platform Musicals has also announced its autumn show will be a new version of Stephen Sondheim's musical drama Follies which will run the week ending November 24.
Follies was first produced by Platform more than 20 years ago and director Andrew Hodgson's completely new production will feature one of Platform's largest casts to date.
Tickets cost £15 with three performances taking place at 7.30pm on May 17 and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on May 18.
